Pascal Analyzer (PAL for short), a tool that has been around for more than a decade, can be used to parse Delphi and Borland Pascal source code. Developers who get this tool will be able to use it to analyze PAS, DPR, or DPK files. An Analyzer Wizard shows up by default at startup and assists you in selecting a Delphi project or unit file to analyze.

As mentioned above, Pascal Analyzer has been around for more than a decade. Peganza (software company that specializes in tools for Delphi programming, including Pascal, and in productivity enhancement tools for PC users) released Pascal Analyzer to the public way back in 2001. Since then Pascal Analyzer evolved, getting from version 1 all the way up to version 7. In September 2014, Peganza released Pascal Analyzer version 7.3 to the public.

A setup wizard will guide you through all the steps you need to take to get Pascal Analyzer up and running on your Windows-powered PC. When you’re done installing Pascal Analyzer and you run the application, you will be greeted by another wizard – an analyzer wizard that will assist you in selecting a Delphi project or unit file for analysis.

That’s what Pascal Analyzer does – it takes the Delphi project DPR file, or the Delphi package DPK file, or the Pascal PAS file you select and it analyzes it. It parses Delphi or Borland Pascal source code and then presents the result of the analysis on its interface. By going over the analysis report, developers can identify anomalies and potential errors and they can improve the quality of their source code.

The demo version of Pascal Analyzer will parse Delphi or Borland Pascal source code and will display the results of the analysis on its interface. But it will not generate some reports and will scramble information under a string of “"xxxx".

If you want to improve the quality of your source code, if you are a developer and you want to take a closer look at your Delphi or Borland Pascal source code, then you’re very well advised to give Pascal Analyzer a try.

Pros

A setup wizard will help you install Pascal Analyzer on your Windows PC. An analyzer wizard will help you select a Delphi project or unit file for analysis. Pascal Analyzer can parse Delphi or Borland Pascal source code; once it does that, it displays lots of reports on its interface; more than 50 different reports to be more precise. Pascal Analyzer is recommended by delphi.about.com as one of the Top 9 Delphi IDE Tools and Plug-Ins.

Cons

Trial limitations: lines in certain reports are scrambled as strings of "xxxx"; does not generate a few reports.
